• Hi, I’m new to the support forums. I have a problem with my site where upon page load, my posts are overlapped and all jumbled. This happens to posts with images and without. If I refresh the page, everything looks fine. I’m on a mac, and the problem is apparent in Camino and Firefox, but everything is normal in safari. I have no idea what it looks like on a PC!

    Overlap 1

    Overlap 2

I was wondering if anyone else has run into this problem, and if so, if there’s a quick fix. My stylesheet can be found here. Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

  • You need to validate and fix your code (you have code errors that can mess up display). Your theme uses XHTML, so review the differences between XHTML and HTML.

I’m afraid I’m not much of a coder (my bad), so I’m a bit confused by a lot of the errors. But in looking through the validation page, it seems mainly to be missing alt tags and unclosed tags. Could this really be the source of the display problem?

Missing alt tags are okay to ignore, but unclosed tags are major causes of display problems.

I haven’t had the time to fix the code yet, but in looking through it, I can’t see where the display problems would come from.
    any other ideas? thanks!

why would everything display fine on refresh?

As suggested it could be the code.

However, because it is browser related I’m putting my money on a CSS problem. Also, because most people use IE with Windows it is advisable that you look at your site with it too.

If it does turn out to be a CSS issue I’d suggest you design against FF, then when everything looks okay check it in IE. The other way around is a formula for madness.
