I moved my site a while back to which it went wrong…. I then got the web host to restore the site. However, when I post it appears in the right hand column under recent posts but not in the blog page.

Any ideas how to troubleshoot this??

    Many thanks

I can’t see the problem – I can see are posts on the blog section. Is the problem with new posts only? If so, after moving the site did you resave the permalinks?

As you are using a commercial theme which may be doing some fancy non-standard stuff, it may be a theme-specific issue – in which case you should get support from the theme vendor.

Yes just the new posts, when you go back to the home page you can see the recent posts on the right…

Before this happened the whole site was in blog… homepage galleries etc. When I moved it to be separate this happened. Do I have to resave the permalinks after every post now??

    No vendor support I’m afraid

    Thanks for your help

No not to save permalinks after each post. It is always a good idea to save the permalinks setting after moving a site to recreate the .htaccess file – this is what I was suggesting in case you hadn’t as it can cause weird things to happen.

The usual troubleshooting step would be to change the site to temporarily to use the default twentyeleven theme & see whether this solves the issue – this can help confirm whether the issue is with the theme or not. Also temporarily deactivate all plugins & test again to see whether a plugin could be causing it.

Sorry to sound dumb here. But what steps should I actually do?

    1st test
go to settings -> permalinks check the setting is the one you want (no need to change it) and click [save]

Make a test post check to see whether it appears on the blog page

    2nd test
Go to appearance -> themes and select the twenty eleven theme

Make a test post check to see whether it appears on the blog page – then change back to your original theme

    3rd test
Go to plugins -> installed plugins, select all plugins & deactivate them. Make a test post check to see whether it appears on the blog page – then reactivate all the plugins

this may give you some information about what is causing the problem.

Hi, I have tried all three and I’m still hitting the same problem. Any other ideas?

    Many thanks
