Posts not showing up on front page when I use the widgets

    For the past few days I have tried everything possible and nothing helps. It takes too long to get help from the themes themselves. I am trying to find a magazine type theme for my baseball blog. The issue I am having with every theme is when I go to appearance and widgets, then put in the posts-nothing shows up on the front page as it shows in the demos. Nothing at all shows up besides the “breaking news” scrolling at the top with the most recent posts. What am I doing wrong? What can I do to fix this.
