• I have seen other messages about this problem but none of the information helped me solve my problem so here’s a post!

I am email ing posts to my blog at https://www.best-christianbooks.com/blog. The post goes to the blog and I can see it in the database and when I go into the edit screen, but the post does not display on the homepage or even if I hit ‘view’ on the manage posts page….

Why wouldn’t the post show up?

  • Have you checked to make sure that the time stamp is at present or in the past? If the time stamp of the post is in the future, the post will not show up until that time.

Also, make sure you choose “publish” as the option before you save.

..and if theyre in a subcategory, the parent category needs atleast one entry (thats right isnt it? correct me if Im talking foolishnes).

    Hello All –

I am requesting help here as I am not an computer engineer OR a rocket scientist major!

I am having a bear of a time with WordPress so far as I cannot get it to “post via email.” PLEASE send help with your knowledge as I have exhausted all resources it seems.

I have my blog set up and running but it WILL NOT post via email.

It seems a bit confusing in setting up the OPTIONS / Writing “post to email” screen in WordPress:

    Ex:

    Mail Server:
    Port:110

(WHAT mail server do you use: incoming or outgoing?
AND – do I use the mail server from my standard ISP – or the one from the new “secret email” I am setting up? AND does it matter? Also – does the port number matter? Is Port 110 incoming or outgoing?)

    Login name:

(I am assuming this is the “secret login name” not my standard ISP login name, correct?)

    Password:

(I am assuming this is the “secret password name” not my standard ISP password, correct?)

Then I would need to set up a new email acct in Oultook to post via email to WordPress from my desktop – correct?

Also, do I need to edit or change the wp-mail.php file? what part specifically?

In my wp_config file the line :

define(‘DB_HOST’, ‘localhost’); // 99% chance you won’t need to change this value

should ‘localhost’ be changed to something like this: mysql29.seceretmailhostprovider.net

I’ve tried it both ways – no luck.

What are the options? I’ve read the WordPress doc re: cron jobs and the other bits of “techy speak” seem a bit out there .

Are there SIMPLE options to set up to check an email posted to the blog?

IT would be great if WordPress would put up an actual example with image sequences showing the whole setup procedure. You would get a lot more converts to the program, I guarantee.

I will REALLY APPRECIATE any help you can provide.

    Thanks for your time here,

I have no idea how to post via email either.

    Ok here’s a Doosey!

Just setup a Fedora Core 4 Box as a Webserver (I am still very new to Linux However) I installed Everything ok. and WordPress works just fine from the server.

However when I try to connect from another machine on my local network None of the Theme Shows up. (The basic text/links do but no pictures and not the layout they should be in.

The server recieves it’s adress via DHCP from my router, so it’s not public yet. and the doamin is set as localhost.

when I click on any links from another compuer looking at the Blog I get the error: “The connection was refused while attempting to contact local host” Do I need to set up a different domain name on the server? is that whats confusing both computers?

Let me know what you think, please email me @
