Posts not appearing in the proper categories

    Greetings everyone. Here is my new bonehead problem. I have listed my categories, I know the difference between a page and a post. Or at least I thought I did. Posts are only showing up on the home page, not under the category I want them to. Any idea what I am doing wrong?

    can you provide more info?

    – do you have a category assigned to a post?
    – do you have a menu/list of categories to click on?
    – if you click on one of the categories, it should open a category archive with (all) the post(s) of that category (or child cat of it); does it do this?

    does your theme have the template file archive.php or category.php?
    what theme are you using?

    link to your site to illustrate the problem?

    The post on the front page is supposed to be the first entry of a blog I am starting under the Music Blog Category.

    I do not have a categories menu listed on the front page.

    My theme is twenty ten for right now and it has both the category php and the archive php pages

    Thanks for you response and your help. I am sure this will be something easy, and I am just missing it.

    in both of your posts, if i click the posted in: audio (or music blog, resp) below the post content on the front page, it opens a page ‘category archive’ with one post in each.

    that is the expected behaviour.

    what do you experience?
    or what do you expect?

    ps:
    ‘muisc blog’ in your menu is a page, and unless you use a page template with that page to show category posts, it will just be a page with whatever content.

    So If I remove the PAGE music blog, and then leave the CATEGORY Music Blog, then the POSTS assigned to the Category will show up only in an archive menu? I think then I need to add a category menu no?

    no – they will show up as before.

    maybe;
    one way could be to check and get familiar with the ‘dashboard’ ‘appearance’ ‘menus’ settings

    I did as you suggested and added a category menu to the front page. NOW all I need to do is figure out how to delete the post off of the front page, so the music blog category is the only place it shows up. Your help has been invaluable. than k you very much.Perhaps the easiest thing to do is to rebuild the front Page?
