“Posts in category” total count is wrong. Any fix?

    I did an import from pmachine to wordpress.

    The “posts in category” total count is wrong. It’s more than double of what is the correct count.

    Any way to fix this?

    More explanation:

    in control panel “Manage > Posts”

    The “ID” for the latest article says 310.

    But in “Manage > Categories”

    The “#Posts” says 610.

    I only have 1 category named “default”

    But on the blog pages, the total count says:

    # Categories
    * default (603)

    I had this problem too. I just used a plugin that retrieved an accurate amount of posts. MtDewVirus’s PostCount plugin does the job.
