• Hello all. I’ve been playing with a template using Safari on my blog and thought everything was cool. I just viewed the blog on IE, however, and there is a HUGE gap between the header and where the entries begin. The sidebar, however begins at the normal height.

Any advice on what I may need to adjust to get this working in IE? I can tell you that I widened the entires space by about 150 pixels. Could it be a problem if that is now wider than the right margin of the header?

    Any suggestions are appreciated.

  • Do you have by any chance a picture that is wider than your content area?

I thought of that, but I don’t. I increased my content area and posted an image accordingly. In how many diff’t places must i change the size of the content area? The content area may be greater than the header, right?

Just found the same 450 pixel dimension in an additional place and upped it to 450. Can someone running IE please tell me if the blog is still lopsided?

    Thanks

That site is a mess; you have not one, but several html and body tags in one page, among the 53 errors. Please, try to validate your site, after that might be easier to figure out what’s wrong.

That is the template I am using. Not everyone who uses these forums knows how to “validate” their site. That’s why I’ve brought this query here, as I’ve tried myself and cannot find a solution. What do you mean it has several html and body tags?

I know it is a less traditional template, but it’s the one I need. Can anyone else please offer suggestions?

Like I mentioned to one of your posts before, Moshu, practically every major blog has at least 50 errors, at the very least. Last time I asked a question, I had about 70. Looks like I’m headed in the right direction. Please support.

When you look at the source code of your site/page – i.e. what is the output in a browser, there are multiple <html> and <body> tags. In one file there should be only ONE. It seems you are including some other files or… I don’t know.
I am not and never have been into pushing the “validation” thingy per se. Cleaning up the code however helps to locate the real problems and issues that you are seeking solution for.
When validating if you check the “Show source” box and Revalidate – it will give you the exact location of the erors (with line numbers as clickable links) and usually a good description about what to do.
