• Hi, I am not a wordpress expert, but I tried the following issue to solve by myself without any success so far. Sorry to bother you, but I really appreciate your help here. I could not find a solution online.

I have a small website in three languages, only static pages until recently. Today, I tried to start a blog. As mentioned in various forums and on websites, I first have to publish posts. I did so, and now I have 4 posts in English, 2 in German and 0 in Chinese.
I then created a blank page (not a post) with only a title (Blog) in English language without translations. This was supposed to be my post page. I published it.
I went then to settings – reading:
Homepage: the box was already ticked “static page” (and referred to my frontpage)
Post page: I openend the dropdown menu and selected the previously created “Blog” page
I clicked on save below. What happened then was that the dropdown menu again showed only “select” after the page was reloaded. What went wrong? I tried this not only for the English version of my page, but as well for the other languages – with the same result. I spend hours creating different static pages and went back and forth again. Same result.

What went wrong? Can anybody help me?

  • Hey srindorjie,

I’m very sorry to hear that you’re having trouble. I will try to assist you.

Please try to switch to default theme then check if it’s still happening.

Also try deactivating all plugin one be one and check.

If it’s still happening then open the settings->reading page in Chrome and press F12. In popup window click on Console Tab, while saving the blog page as Post page check if something comes in Red under console tab.

Please copy paste that error here, will try to solve the issue.

    Good Luck
    Juhi
