  • Lucas, it’s also doing this on my local install of WordPress on my Mac running Safari 5.1.10 on Mac OS 10.6.8. But it does display correctly on this same system with Opera 24.0.

My advice is not to touch this plugin upgrade with a ten foot pole until this is resolved. This plugin was apparently re-written and not adequately tested. I would not take a mission-critical site and use what seems to be yet another beta WordPress plugin.

The Special Recent Posts plugin comes with a stylesheet which is supported by the majority of modern browsers. Older and not common ones, like probably those on Linux, might not provide a good support for CSS.

@brad Nelson: Current stable release of Safari for Mac is version 7.0.6 (9537.78.2)
So i strongly recommend you update your browser if you can.

NOTICE: If you’re having issue with layouts on old browsers, that’s probably because they not guarantee a full support for the latest CSS rules.
This plugin comes with a basic stylesheet and any further implementation, support and customization for different enviroments is obviously up to the user.

Anyway next version will include a couple of additional css which will provide a better compatibility even with outdated browsers.

Luca, I just chose “Yes” for “Disable Plugin CSS” in the General Settings and it stopped the posts being displayed horizontally. But one glitch is that there is no space then between individual posts vertically. Perhaps you could create a more universally-compatible base style sheet.

Surely this plugin should be able to work with Safari 5.1.10 which is not that old.

Thanks, Luca. I’ll be sure to test that for you when the new version is out and report back here. It’s a great plugin otherwise.

Latest version should fix your issue Brad.

But once again, i strongly recommend to update your browsers. There ain’t no point not to do it today.

Luca, maybe a bit off topic but is it possible to display recent post with this plugin or the pro version in horizontal rows? To make myself clear I mean something like this: https://iamafoodblog.com/category/recipes/ looking for something like that cause its not implemented in the theme I use now.

Hope so. Thanks for your time anyway!

@jwvantilburg: Sure. You can achieve that with the PRO EDITION.

Thanks, Luca, for the prompt support. Version 2.0.2 did indeed fix the problem.

And although I generally keep up with the latest operating systems (and thus the browsers that come with them, such as Safari), I think for any bit of software to be useful it has to reach a wide audience. A certainly amount of backward compatibility just has to be assumed.

I’ll try to shoot you some well-earned $$$ by going PRO as soon as I can. Thanks. You can see my extensive use of your plugin here.

    Ok closing.

    Hi,

I’m having a similar problem with these posts stacking vertically with a narrow width after having upgraded the plugin. The issue is on the homepage of the site.

I’m on very recent iMac and all my browsers are updated. Can you please advise how I can make that plugin span 100%.

    Thanks

Also, I haven’t even upgraded WordPress to 4.0 yet..
