• Hi, all

I’ve been running a wp website for a few weeks now and have about 30 posts, about 4 pages and a few comments, but I’ve been away for 3 days and returned to find my website now displays error 404 – not found.

I can access my dashboard which shows all posts and pages are now gone, but my comments (and all tags) are still there. I backup the site every day though, but when I went to my phpadmin to reinstall I find all the posts and pages are still there. They’ve just suddenly decided not to display on my site anymore.

It was working yesterday, I can tell from google analytics that several posts/pages were accessed, and as I haven’t been around to change anything since 4 days ago I know it wasn’t me.

Can someone please help me get the posts/pages to display again, but bear in mind that although I set up the site I’d appreciate you keep it simple!

Thanks for any help you can give.

  • First thing to try is to revert to the twenty eleven theme and then see if your site loads. That tells you that its a theme issue if it works. They start with plugins, deactivating and reactivating one by one.

I’ve reverted to twenty eleven theme and disabled all widgets. Still nothing.

HI – I am suddenly having the exact same problem – home page is fine – I have about 53 pages & posts and get the same error code – this is a business website that a publication wants to write an article about, but not if it’s not working…need help fast!
    thanks!!

Figured out how to use my daily backup and now everything seems to be working properly, other than I need to tweak a few minor theme settings.

No idea what the cause was but phew!!!
