    Hi

I am having a real issue with packaging a child theme that I have not encountered before.

Everything is importing except for posts and a custom post type. I know the content is in the xml file as it imports if I run the import manually, just not with OCDI. I have tried on 3 different installs around 30 times and still no joy. No posts or custom posts will import regardless of what I do.

I have the same issue with your 2.0 beta but in addition the customiser settings do not import with that. With 1.4 customiser settings are importing.

Any ideas please, I am out of ideas?

    Hi,

the posts and custom post type import should work with this plugin (that’s it’s basic task). So there must be some other issue… What does the log file say? Did you try importing with the default WP importer? Please try that and see if it goes without an issue.

About the customizer import… I’ve fixed that in the latest version. Please try it out and let me know: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/14641788/OCDI/OCDI-v2.0.0-RC3.zip

I’m planing on making the official update tomorrow, so this test for customizer would really be great!

    Take care!

    Hi, thanks for the reply.

Yes I have tried importing with the default WP importer on a manual import and the posts and custom posts do import fine so I know they are in the file, it is only with OCDI that they do not import.

However, I have now rectified the issue as always happens 10 minutes after you contact support!!!

There seems to be an issue with Wp export versions, so this is for child themes and this is my process:

    Theme developed
    Data exported
Theme installed on clean WP install
All licensed content stripped out and replaced with placeholders
    Data exported
    Packaged

The issue seems to be the theme was developed on and exported from WP 4.6, installed on WP 4.7 and then data exported again atter stripping content. That export file does then not work.

I resolved it by rolling back to 4.6 on both WP installs and then exporting again from WP4.6 to generate the final flies. Those files work fine when packaged and installed on 4.7, I just can’t seem to re-export from 4.7 when the original file was exported from 4.6.

I don’t know if this is something you are able to fix or whether it is just a WP thing but hope that it helps to improve your already awesome plugin.

    Thanks

    Hi,

    hmmm, that’s a strange one.

I’m glad you fixed it ??

Thanks for posting this here, maybe it helps someone else…

I noticed you released the update today. I just tested it and it is still not importing the customiser settings correctly, at least for Divi child themes. This will affect quite a few developers themes if they are calling the file from the repository.

Thought you would appreciate the heads up ??

The customizer importer did not change from 1.4 to 2.0… I reverted the changes before releasing the 2.0 and added a filter to enable the “improvements”, which are disabled by default.

Please try version 1.4 and let me know, if you get a different result than with the release 2.0…

Also try to create a new customizer export file.

    Take care!

    Hi,

the customiser import does not work for me either with 2.0+

    Thanks

    Hi,

which browsers are you both using?

I’ve update the plugin yesterday to 2.0.1, which solves some issues with some browsers not supporting a few JS methods that I used in the plugin. Please try the latest version again and see if that works.

If the issue is not fixed in 2.0.1, then:
Could you maybe create a test site and send me the login details at capuderg [at] gmail.com, so I can debug the issue.

    Take care!

    Hi,

thanks for responding I have tried it with 2.0.1 with the same result so I will set up a test site and email you.

    Thanks

I am in the same boat as Michelle and Amanda (we all develop child themes for Divi). FYI when I installed a child theme using OCDI 2.0.1 on my test site before I updated it to WordPress 4.7 it installed properly with the theme settings .dat file. But when I upgraded the site to WP 4.7 and installed the theme, the theme settings did not import properly. So I assume it has something to do with the customizer features added in WP 4.7.

    Hi @joand,

yes, the customizer changes in WP 4.7 are causing some issues, but the plugin update will be available in a couple of minutes, thanks to @amanda0405 for supplying me with the test data.

I just need to test some things, before I update the plugin…

The version 2.0.2 is now available and it should fix the customizer options import.

Please test it out and let me know, if everything is ok now.

    Have a nice day!

Hi @capuderg – yes, it works for me now! Thank you so much for all your help with this, and to Amanda who was up most of the night where she lives trying to get this solved. There are quite a few of us who develop for the Divi theme, and I am sure I speak for all of us that we really appreciate your efforts and responsiveness. There are so many variables involved with WordPress, theme, other plugin updates that can cause things to go wrong – it seems like it is a never ending battle to stay ahead of the game.
