Posting Tweets twice

  • We started using this plugin in January to automatically Tweet when a new post is published in a certain category. Since we only post sporadically in that category I didn’t notice right away that the last two posts were Tweeted twice.

    The previous post was Tweeted correctly and after editing a typo within the same minute was not send a second time ( {“errors”:[{“code”:187,”message”:”Status is a duplicate.”}]}.) However after second edit a few minutes later the same tweet was send again.
    Today, the same happened after an edit (change of times of an activity):

    I’m not sure if any of our first five posts (I’m not the author) were edited after the Tweets were send or not but they were only sent once as expected.

    Auto publish on editing posts/pages/custom post types is set to “disabled”.

    Am I overlooking something, is it a bug or is it intended behavior?

  • If the metabox at edit page is set to Yes on edit actions(by overriding the Auto publish on editing’s default settings) then the duplicate posts will be published.
    The other possibility is making changes without reloading the post’s page after publishing the post(Since the post page is not reloaded after publishing in case of gutenberg editor), in this case the metabox settings will be same as in the time of post creation(ie, publishing permissions are enabled).
    Please check it and let us know.
    If you want to republish a post after fixing typo, either add a new hash tags or message format at the message format settings at metabox available at that post ,to prevent duplicate error.
