    Hi All,

I’m totally new and have a few questions:

I have my own domain (with WordPress installed) and am trying to post to it using jott.com

I have my jott link set up but I think the problem I’m having is that the username and password I’ve given jott are attempting to log in to the WordPress website not my own. Is there a way to link the two?

I have a WordPress username on the main site and thought there would be a place link it with my off-site domain. The username WordPress gives you when you download and install on a off-site server is ‘admin’ and of course that isn’t going to work on the WordPress site. Help!

  • I have no idea what jott.com is… but:
    – what is an “off-site domain”?
    – “admin” MUST work on your wordpress installation!
    – what do you call “a WordPress username on the main site”?

    A lot of confusion…

    I have a website: lostcity.org

    I’ve loaded wordpress onto it.

During the installation process, wordpress gives you a name a password to use for your website.

This name and password does not work on wordpress’s website, only your own. The difference is, my blog is set up on my own server.

I have since signed up on wordpress’s website for a username and password hoping to bridge the two accounts.

Does that make sense? I know, a little confusing…

nothing you do will link your wordpress.com account, with your admin account on the blog you host yourself.

There’s no reason to “link” them, and they can’t be linked in any meaningful way anyway.

Perhaps if you stop telling us what you did, and start telling us what you WANT to do, we can tell you how to do it ??

    Here’s the confusion:

Your own site running WordPress (downloaded from www.remarpro.com) has no “users” connection to wordpress.com. The two are entirely separate sites. Your users are stored on your own site, they’re not connected to users on wordpress.com, which is its own site running WordPress MU.

    That help?

Yup that is what I needed to know.

To answer your question Ivovic: What I am trying to do is to post to my WordPress site (lastcity.org) by using Jott.com

If you haven’t heard of jott.com, check it out, it’s pretty cool.

I have a feeling though that due to jott.com limitations, one can only post to a wordpress.com hosted account rather than my independent lastcity.org wordpress account.

That’s why I was trying to link them.

Ahh, sorry that seems a little … prone to error… for me, but there’s certainly an easy way to make use of it on your own blog.

Jott allows you to send email.

WordPress allows you to blog from an email account.

All you need to do is set up an email account which wordpress will fetch it’s posts from, then use Jott to dictate emails and send them to that address.
