Posting outside of the php directory

I installed WordPress in a seperate directory (www.mysite.com/blog/), which is good for me.

I really need to have a preview of the blog on the front page of the site (www.mysite.com/), but: the php scripts (things like <?php the_category(‘, ‘) ?>) wont be read outside of the specific directory.

Is there some sort of code or plugin that will allow me to have blog posts also on the front page, even though the front page is outside of the directory? I would really appreciate any help, thanks.
