• We have GDPR Comments v1.0.2 installed on a very basic WordPress 5.2.3 with practically no other plugins. The theme is Twenty Eleven.

The settings of GDPR Comments we use are

    • Anonymize IPs: checked
    • Default Cookies Consent: unchecked (disabled by WordPress settings anyway)
    • Label: empty
    • Compliance Required: unchecked
    • Checkbox Label: tried to delete it but it is always reset to “I agree”
    • Compliance Text: unchecked

This produces a comment form that shows fields for text, author, email + site without any checkboxes asking for consent, just like we need it. Unfortunately, posting comments is not possible because the [Post comment] button is disabled.

Enabling “Compliance Required” and checking the respective checkbox enables comments.
