Posting code samples in WordPress

I’ve learned how to post code here, but I can’t seem to figure out how to do it in Word Press.
I went to post the following code sample in my local memory blog, and I tried surrounding the code sample with the code tag, with the pre tag and with backticks. None of them worked ??

I searched the forums, but couldn’t find anything on point. Suggestions?
