• Is it possible to post to wordpress by email and within the mail we somehow tell WP which multiple categories this post should be linked to?

In my requirement I have dozens of categories and a post can be linked to 3 or 4 categories, but each post could be linking to a different combination of categories.

Is there a plugin or hack to do this?

  • I am looking for this now too.

I installed “postie” which has issues with the latest version of wordpress by the looks of things. Everything seems to work EXCEPT for catagory posting.

Infact I don’t even need multiple catagories. I just need to be able to post to a SPECIFIC catagory via email.

    Many thanks

I too would like to do exactly that razaj

@jackjack Just navigate to your admin panel>>>options>>>writing then go to post via email and select default mail category.

I hope someone can help me with addign a post that was emailed to multiple categories

    cheers

No I need to be able to tell wordpress which category to post to via the subject line (or email body). I don’t necessarily need to post to multiple catagories… just one catagory at a time will do but VIA email

    bump

This one has been on my mind
    Maybe modifying something in ‘wp-mail.php’?

At the bottom of this page there is a section under “Hack Email Format” that reads:

    Subject line
If [n] is present anywhere in the subject line of your email, the e-mail will be filed under the category numbered n. Otherwise, it will be posted under whichever category is selected for “Usual Category” in Step 1. Example: [1] This is a Test! would be posted as “This is a Test!”, filed under General.

However, I can’t get it to work. I’m wondering if there are any other modifications that need to be done to the wp-mail.php file to get this to work.

    Has anyone heard anything?
