Postie mail checking not working

I can’t figure it out. If i deactivate and activate or run a manual check Postie will grab the mail from the designated inbox. Otherwise it is like it is not check the mailbox at all. I even tried a crone job set to use …\wp-content\plugins\postie\get_mail.php and it still doesn’t get it.
It worked when I originally installed but now it is hit and miss but mostly miss.
