BACKGROUND: The formatting of my email and the resulting Postie format often do not match, and I am compelled to log in and revise the format after I have posted by mail.

ASSUMPTION: What is contained in my email as formatted text is stripped of its format before it is processed by POSTIE.

QUESTION: Is there an HTML option that will permit the transfer of HTML formatted email?

That is incorrect. There is a setting called “Preferred Text Type” be sure it is set to “HTML” if you want Postie to look for the HTML version of the email. Note that not all emails have an HTML version.

Firstly, thank you for your response.
Secondly, just because my settings are different than the result I expect are wrong, does not place my assumption in error.
Thirdly, my settings have been set to HTML since the outset, and the default setting on my Mail software is HTML.

No, there is something else afoul. Do you have any more ideas?

You assumption was that formatting is being stripped by Postie. That assumption is incorrect. Postie does not remove formatting.

If you setting is HTML and you are not getting formatted emails then the emails are being sent without formatting included.
