I’ve been trying to use Postie for the weekly e-zine that we generate with our site. Unfortunately, we can’t afford any more snafus. 2 weeks ago, Postie failed to pick up 12 items and, in them meantime, Mailchimp emailed the e-zine (by prior schedule). It was so ugly. For some reason, Postie had stopped harvesting posts on the 3rd (out of 15) item. I could never detect why Postie shut down. So I’m wondering: If I do a test to a “practice group” in MailChimp (consisting of just a couple of our staff), how might we easily “reset” the RSS feed so our “real” list of 6,000 subscribers will see a re-sending of the entire list of newly-posted items? I’m afraid my confidence in Postie has been jaded.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I’m not sure what you’re asking or if you’re just venting.

Technology is complex and it sounds like you have multiple items that depend on everything working in sequence.

When Postie stops working it is typically either an issue with the mail server (password changed, slow response times) or PHP limitations (out of memory, script ran too long).

Typically if you need to do testing you would do it on a copy of your site rather than on the main one.

The unpredictability of the system breaking down (and make no mistake — it broke down with Postie) is something with which I’m becoming less and less comfortable. I think I’ll just try to get the time to post *directly* again. But thanks for all the work you’ve put into the idea. Something caused Postie to stop. And, between my item #3 and #4, there was no change of password.

You’re probably right: I was trying to create too complex of a system. I’ll simplify and just go back to posting hands-on instead of via email. But thanks for all the work on a great idea.

The Website you posted is not loading for me in two out of three attempts and very slowly on the third attempt. Looks like a timeout due to PHP limitations caused postie to stop – meaning you’d need to fix the PHP before postie can work correctly on your installation.
