    Hello there!

I’m trying to use Postie to create posts via email, but I can’t get it to work at all. Each time I run the Test Config it’s unable to connect.

I’ve tried all of the methods and suggestions listed below as well:

    https://postieplugin.com/getting-started/
    https://postieplugin.com/postie-gmail/
    https://postieplugin.com/faq/postie-wont-connect-mailserver/

I’ve updated my gmail account to allow less secure apps.
I’ve tried an assortment of configurations using IMAP, POP3, IMAP-SSL, and POP3-SSL (tried each one with the “less secure apps” setting both on and off).

I understand that there are issues with GoDaddy. Our site’s domain is hosted by GoDaddy, but the actual site itself is hosted elsewhere and not by us. So I don’t think GoDaddy is the issue.

Any ideas why I can’t connect?

    Thanks for your help!

Were you sucessful using any of the commands from https://postieplugin.com/faq/postie-wont-connect-mailserver/ while logged into your web server?

What exact error message are you getting from Postie?

Unfortunately I don’t have access to my web server.

I think the closest I’ve gotten to being successful is using the following settings:
    Connection: cURL
    Mail Protocol: POP3-SSL
    Port: 995
    Mail Server: pop.gmail.com

Using the above settings, I receive this error: Unable to write data to POP3 server pop.gmail.com on port 995.

I’ve also added my email to the Authorized Addresses hoping that might help!

Good news! Looks like I was able to get a post created. I ended up changing the Default Poster to anyone but the Administrator, and then I checked off more Roles That Can Post just in case.

But I’m noticing that it won’t create any Custom Post Types though. I’m using Awesome Support plugin and I’m trying to have Postie create a new ticket when an email goes to our support email. It works if I select Post, but if I select any of the CPTs listed under Message > Default Post Type. It just won’t create that ticket for me!

Any ideas why this post type is causing problems?

I suspect Awesome Support requires some additional metadata to be set in order for the ticket to be valid.
In order to do this you (or someone) would need to look at the Awesome Support source code and determine what is needed then using one of the Postie hooks add the appropriate data. See https://postieplugin.com/extending/
