Post wont load after clicking 'read more'

    Hello Guys! Im very new to wordpress and managed to try a few themes and make them work. Finally after making posts and it appears in the main page, after clicking on the “read more” link i get an ERROR 404 message. I also noticed that the permalinks to the posts are screwed up it shows :
    “https://ashraf-ali.com/http:/ashraf-ali.com/home”
    In the reading settings i have chosen show “full text”. But still it shows summary with “read more”

    you can see what i mean when you click on the “read more” button.

    how can i fix this? is this got to do with the theme or WP settings? I really hope to get this thing solved as its really driving me crazzzyyyy :p Thanks everyone!

    The site is in “Maintenance Mode” so we cannot check what is going on with the read more link.

    But still it shows summary with “read more”

    This is because your theme is using the_excerpt() instead of the_content().

    Hello Keesiemeijer!

    I finally got this issue resolved! After deleting .htaccess file i noticed that i set the permalinks to default and keyed in my full url :p big no no i found out! replaced it with /%postname%/ and that baby worked like magic! Thank you so much for taking your time to help. And yes, silly me putting the page on maintenance and ask for help :p It’s up and running now, and lots more to learn! Have a blessed day!
