Post with blank title breaks permalinks?

WordPress 2.8 allows publishing of posts with blank titles, but if I’m using a permalink structure that includes post title-based slugs, permalinks break for blank-titled posts. Any workarounds (including ways to make the title required again so that it will be idiot-proof for non-technical staff)?
