I’ve finally figured out how to get “Post via e-mail” to *mostly* work.. but I still can’t get the images I’ve attached to display at all.

I can email plain-text messages okay, both the subject and the body of the message display correctly. But, whenever I attach a photo to an email, only the Subject displays as the post title and nothing else appears.

Even using the wordpress app for the iPhone produces weird results. The image gets uploaded, but something gets garbled along the way. Here’s an example of a post I created with the iPhone app. Notice the broken HTML code:

    Sample Body Text ok, then
    pa href=https://mysite.com/v3/wordpress-content/uploads/2010/03/l_1600_1200_3CEFFF45-017A-4B79-9A28-B81A60DED001.jpegimg src=https://mysite.com.com/v3/wordpress-content/uploads/2010/03/l_1600_1200_3CEFFF45-017A-4B79-9A28-B81A60DED001.jpeg alt= class=alignnone size-full //a/p

There’s no quotes around the links, and no spaces either.. Any help?

  • images aren’t supported with post by email.

I use a service called posterous….check it out maybe?

Its free, I send an email to a specified address they post to my wordpress. (and twitter, facebook, flickr, etc). It supports pics, vids, music, files, etc

Thanks for your reply. I’m confused though, as this page seems to indicate its possible to post images via email:

    https://en.support.wordpress.com/post-by-email/

    Attachments

Image attachments will be included in your published post as follows:

Single images will be displayed inline (a single image is defined as an image without an image immediately following it).
Multiple images will be displayed as a gallery.

I’m noticing that all “<” brackets are wiped out when I post from an email, import posts from my blogger account and even post from the word press iPhone app. This seems to be a bigger issue?

Your quote is from wordpress.com which is different than www.remarpro.com. The .com might be hosting a solution that includes functionality similar to ‘posterous’. The .org version, assuming you are hosting wp on your own server, does not necessarily include this functionality out of the box.

I don’t know that for a fact. I am having the same issue. I am hosting wp on my own server and cannot get this to work with anything other than plain text (no attachments) e-mail.

I am in the process of installing wp on localhost, so I can debug the wp-mail script perhaps.
