A week back I wanted to upgrade the MH theme lite, I made a backup of the old theme, if there were to many differences and more time was needed to configure it. This was the case and I restored to the version (2.0.5) of the theme we used. Everything was in order again we thought, but for some reason post aren’t showing in there categories.
I am not sure if this happened after the update or after restoring the theme.

I hope someone can help me, it’s a big issue and the site is for animal charity. So no money is made from it.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi Sispostma,

thanks for using MH Magazine lite.

We checked your site and it appears that your archives are broken. It’s possible that your backup was incomplete and that you’re now missing stuff.

In case your site is cached, then please clear your cache. If that doesn’t help, then probably the only way to solve your issue is by restoring the original codebase of the theme.

By the way, we also noticed that you’ve modified code by changing core theme files. You really shouldn’t do it that way. When you modify core theme files, your code modifications will not only be lost after theme updates, but you could also break things.

If you’re familiar with coding and want to modify code, you should create a custom child theme instead with your code modifications. That way your custom code won’t be lost after theme updates.

Tanks for the quick response, I see now the back-up is incomplete indeed. I am missing the archive file and the 404 file, also mh-posted-stacked.php is not in my file.
What is the correct way to clear the cache?
The modifications have been done by my predecessor and are not mine, I am not a fan of corethemes. I will take that in mind when it’s necessary to restore to the original codebase.

If you already have figured out that your backup was incomplete, then it’s very unlikely a caching problem. In this case it would be necessary to restore the original codebase because at the moment your theme is basically broken.

As an alternative you could contact your hosting company and ask them if they are able to restore your site to the point before you made the changes that broke your site. If you have a good hosting company, they very likely make daily backups.

Thanks for the info, that is not great news. I’ll check the host and hope they make backups, otherwise I will restore the theme to the the original codebase.
