Post turning into a page??

  • I am currently updating a WordPress site with a new custom theme design. I am working on a local duplicate of the original site updated to 4.8 but the problem exists on both the local site and the original.

    I first noticed that the latest blog post had the wrong layout. Looking at the code it is using the page template rather than the post template. When I added a new post this came in the post template but the previous post disappeared from the archive and is now listed among the pages in the admin section. When I deleted the new page the previous post moved back to the post archive but still had the page template. Weird!

    The only thing that has recently changed on the site was that the owner added the OptimizePress plugin not long ago. It is activated but not been used. Could this be the culprit?

  • Hello,
    You create a page with the page template which call recent blog post and set that page as a static home page.
    When a new post is publish and if its category and previous post category is the same then both post are in the same page.

    Sorry, I think you misunderstand me. I have posts that are for some reason using the page template. I don’t want this to happen. I want a post to use the post template and pages to use the page template as normal.
