• Hi,
New to WordPress… I’m wondering if it is possible to simply post to a page other than my home page.
Specifically, I’d like to create a page off of my main page (charlesredell.com) that contains links that I come across during the day. So for example, there’s the “press it” button on my toolbar that I click on when I see a cool site. I blog about it and hit publish. Right now, it goes up on my main page. But I’d like to keep that page for actual posts where I say something worth reading, not just links I find fun for a minute and want to share but will rarely think of again. So, is there a way to do that easily or do I have to go into the admin pages to the page I create and post there?

    Thanks!
    c

  • Are you putting these link posts into a certain category? If so, you could exclude that category from showing on the front page.

Yes. But then how do I force it to post to the page and not the front page?

ok. thanks. so that kind of makes sense and I think I can do it (i’m not experienced in PHP at all if that isn’t obvious. but I can play).
However, from reading it, it doesn’t look like that alone would make a post go onto another page (other than the main page of the blog). It would just keep it off the main page. Am I right? If so, is there a hack that I could use to make posts in a specific category publish on only one page?
Is that another way to use “The Loop”? If so, can someone help me create the code for that please?
If that is an inapproprate request, please let me know. I don’t want to demand anything of anyone. But it sounds like it might be a cool feature and if there is someone out there who could/wants to do it, I bet people would use it.
    Thanks!

well, by not showing that category on the front page, it won’t show up unless you go to the specific category or to the archives.

to access the post on the excluded category, you would have to select that category…

so does that mean some snippet of code could be added to the page that would call posts only of a certain category?
If so, what would that code look like or where could I find out?
    Thanks again,
