• Recently, my blog post titles stopped showing up in any of the search engines. Even if I type in the exact title of the post, nothing shows up. My blog shows up in the search but not the individual posts

I use the “All in One SEO” and I assume that something is misconfigured in its’ settings….. but I don’t know what the problems is or where to start.

After i’ve enabled the SEO plugin, do i also have to adjust the header.php file to match the SEO plugin settings?

    Any help would be appreciated!

  • What is your URL?

Your meta descriptions are all the same. This is extremely bad for SEO since it may cause search engines may drop your pages as duplicate content. It’s far better to have no meta descriptions than identical ones.

I don’t use All in One SEO myself, so I don’t know the settings involved. I would recommend disabling it if you can’t get this issue fixed.

I’d prefer to still use the All in One SEO plugin. Can I just remove the meta tags not associated with AIO?

How long will it take after I delete those lines from my header.php for them to disappear from my source code?

Is your meta description hard-coded in your header.php? If so, then yes you can remove it. SEO plugins generally have an option to automatically generate unique meta descriptions (good for SEO), so see if you can enable this option for your plugin.

It should happen immediately (clear your browser cache if they don’t).

thanks for all your help so far!

I think I got rid of all of the duplicate meta tags last night. My posts titles still don’t come up in a search though.

Will it just take some time for the search engines to start recognizing my posts again or is there anything else I can do to fix the problem?

It will take a while for Google to update. If you haven’t done so, sign up for Google Webmaster Tools and verify your site. After a few days, check back with these tools to see if any other problems are reported.

Thanks for all your help. I’ll give it a couple days and if it’s any better

Although Webmaster Tools shows fewer pages with duplicate meta descriptions than before, there are still several posts which I fixed that show up with duplicate meta descriptions. Like this post for example, https://downloadmydrums.com/download-374-old-school-video-game-samples/

Any more help would be appreciated.
