Yes, you would select %postname% from the selections and then save the setting.

I am seeking for assistance first, before I reconfigure my Permalinks settings. The last time when I reset it , I encountered broken links.

But it keeps going back to Post Name: https://xxxxxxx/sample-post/. I still see mumeric in post URL.

Have you tried disabling all your plugins?
