I am sorry to bring the bad news… that theme is full of zillion relative and absolute positioned stuff (which I find unnecessary in any WP theme), so it would take too much time for me to debug it.

To explain it: the kind of positioning used in the stylesheet makes many divs “rigid” = not able to extend as the content in them would require. It might have been OK before you messed around with the theme… I don’tknow.

how about moving the author line to below the post?

I guess you could do that…
