post template nad page template widget, dissapeared

  • Hi.

    I was using post templates and page templates, through a widget in the “edit post” and “edit page” pages in my twentyten theme, and I don’t know why, now I don’t see the page tempalte widget and in the edit post it says that this theme has no available custom post templates, when all the template files are in the same place.

    Can anybody tell me what’s wrong and how can I recover those important widgets?

  • It sounds like you might have page templates and the “custom post template” controls confused, perhaps?

    The page template controls will show when you are editing a page, only, and are part of the built in functionality of WordPress. If this has vanished, then you might not have any page templates in your theme, or you might have deleted them.

    The custom post template controls will show when you are editing a post, only, and are part of the Custom Post Template plugin. If this has vanished, then you might have deactivated the Custom Post Template plugin, or you might not have any custom post templates in your theme, or you might have deleted them.

    Thanks for the great plugin.

    I had been using your custom post plugin with a personal theme of mine.
    It was working great till today and now it has suddenly disappeared.

    To reiterate, i have cross checked these:

    1) I am not confused bween page and post template. I have never used page template plugin. Whn i try to add a new post i get the follwoing msg “no available custom post templates”.

    2) I have cross checked – my template files are in the same folder as the theme’s index.php and the template files begin with `<?php
    /*
    Template Name Posts: Name of my template
    */
    ?>`

    3) I am testing this on a local server/ php5 environment on the latest wordpress. There are no other wp-plugin installed – so no question of conflict.

    4)Strangely – i was using it perfectly well till half an hour back. Infact the last post was done using a custom template and the post still reflects the custom design template. Now even if i try tyo edit this older post (which had used a custom template) – i do not see any dropdown.

    Any ideas ??
