Post Sort Order – Alphabetically, ignore 'the'

I’ve been searching and can’t seem to find any insight on this… Is there a way to sort posts alphabetically yet have it ignore the word ‘the’… for example

The George

(should come up under the letter G)
— or do I have to list it like this:

George, The

the later is not really preferable, but if that’s the way it goes?
