Post SMTP email error but no errors in log

  • I’ve been receiving the same email error for months now, and I can’t seem to figure out why:

    “You getting this message because an error detected while delivered your email.
    You are welcome to post a support issue.
    The log to paste with your support issue:
    Incorrect authentication data”

    The credentials are correct, but more interestingly, emails are actually being sent and the logs show no failed email. I did, some time ago, mix up some accounts. At this time the errors started, but back then they were legitimate. So I changed the credentials to the correct ones, which solved the problem (the emails were being sent properly and the logs showed no more failures), but the error persisted. I can see no clear correlation between emails being sent and the error. Is this maybe related to the old errors that are still in the log?

    Do you still get emails?
    What SMTP service do you use?

    I am using version 1.9.4 of postman. The last error email I received was yesterday. I’m not sure what you mean by what SMTP services I use, but my domain and website are hosted on Godaddy.

    I have two wordpress installations on the same server, both using postman, both diagnostics pasted below. it says fail: 25 and 13, which is probably the same number as the log gives. I have probably over 100 error emails though, which makes some 65 of them incorrect.
