post-sitemap.xml not fetched by Google

    Hi, I added
    /sitemap_index.xml to Google Search Console and it works well.
    However my post pages are not being indexed.
    I’ve tried to add post-sitemap.xml to Search console and it says that it couldn’t fetch it.
    Type: Unknown Couldn’t fetch

    Sitemap could not be read

    What might be the problem? Thanks!

    Hello @vrefr

    Thanks for reaching out about your sitemap. You are expected to submit on the sitemap index since it contains the child sitemaps. I checked the post sitemap and it’s technically correct.

    Please remove all the sitemaps you have submitted, resubmit the sitemap index alone then monitor the results over a couple of days.

    Thanks for a quick reply. So I don’t need to submit post-sitemap.xml?to index my posts?

    I submitted /sitemap_index.xml several weeks ago and Search console shows indexed only the main pages and not the posts.

    Yes, you don’t need to submit the post sitemap. You mentioned that main pages are indexed but not posts. Can you share a couple of URLs of the posts that aren’t indexed yet?

    Thanks @maybellyne I just needed to wait a week more until google indexes the new pages. Now everything looks ok. Thank you for your support.
