Post remotely using metaWeblog.newPost (xmlrpc api)

I have managed to create the php code to post remotely to my blog. but i cannot get it to add post into the select category. Can anyone see what is wrong.

I set the category here ($category = ‘3’; ) so it should enter into the category with ID 3 but it is always entering Uncategorized which is id 1…
