    Hello!

I have two sites build with same theme and plugins, but one has Yoast premium, another – not.
On the site with premium Yoast I can see option to set post category as primary, on the free version of Yoast I do not have this option.
On the problem site I tried to switch to the default theme and deactivate another plugins but it didn’t help. What can be the problem, could you please advise?

    Thanks!

    Hi @svitim

We understand you aren’t seeing the ‘make primary’ category option for your website that is running the free version of Yoast SEO v16.2, and that you’ve already tried to switch to a default theme, and deactivated all other plugins except for Yoast SEO.

Could you please check if you’ve selected more than 2 categories for your post? We do know that the ‘make primary’ option won’t show up if you only have a single category ticked. You can learn more about this feature here — https://yoast.com/help/how-to-select-a-primary-category/

    Hello Michael,

Yes, I’ve selected 2 categories for my post. In a Premium Yoast, selecting second category shows “make primary’ next to this category. In a free version nothing happens – neither next to the category nor in the bottom of the categories list

    Hey @svitim,

That’s odd and shouldn’t happen by default. We just tested with Yoast SEO 16.2 free and it was both showing in the classic editor next to the category name or under the category list in the block editor.

Did you disable showing the SEO settings for your current post type? Can you check under SEO → Search Appearance → Content Types (tab) → Posts if you have SEO settings on enabled?

When I choose defaukt theme and disable all plugins except Yoast, I can see posts in block editor. And there is no “make primary” in categories list. Should I install some plugin and switch to classic editor?

Ok, I’ve updated Yoast to 16.3 and problem has resolved ??
I didn’t undertand what was the issue, but hope it will not happen again.

    Thank you for your help!
