• Hi there,
I am really excited to start using this plugin and be able to get away from Jetpack Subscriptions and could use your help. One thing that I found that Jetpack does very well is rendering:
    YouTube links and
    Gallery images.

In one of my blog posts (using the Classic editor, not Gutenberg), I have inserted a YouTube video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15PJjavATTQ), and also inserted a Gallery of images.

When Email Subscribers sends out the Post Notification email, the YouTube link is a large black box with the error message: “An error occurred.
Try watching this video on https://www.youtube.com, or enable JavaScript if it is disabled in your browser.”

I was hoping that it would grab the thumbnail from YouTube (https://img.youtube.com/vi/15PJjavATTQ/0.jpg), and make it a link to either the Blog post, or directly to YouTube.

The Gallery is rendered as bunch of broken image placeholders.

Here are links to screenshots of:
    1) Original blog post
    2) Jetpack email with YouTube link
    3) Jetpack email with Gallery images
    4) Email Subscribers email with YouTube Error
    5) Email Subscribers email with Gallery broken images

I do note that in the email, the images of the Gallery are linking to

I am using WP 5.0.3 with Classic editor, Email Subscribers version: 3.5.17, and viewing emails with Thunderbird 60.5.0.

    Thank you!

  • Hi @highrollerusa

I understand that the Jetpack renders the youtube thumbnail and the gallery images. However, when you send the emails using Email Subscribers:

It sends your website’s URLs in all images which may or may not be whitelisted on each email provider so you will need to select “Show Images” on the top of the email.

Also, It shows the embeds the direct video into the Email instead of just the thumbnail.

I have forwarded this concern to our developers so that they may take a closer look as well as provide their opinion on this.

    Best,
    Aditya Shah
