• I am a complete novice to wordpress but have managed to create a blog and customize a theme, however I have created a post and selected the relaxation category but it does not show under the menu. Also I now have the miscellaneous (uncategorized) field showing in all my pages except about. I have totally confused myself and any help would be gratefully received. thanks

  • Hello,

I have noticed that all of your menu Links (except for the About) lead to the following category:

    https://marionedwardstherapies.co.uk/category/miscellaneous

even though the name of the link says otherwise, it actually links to the Miscellaneous category.

I would recommend you to re-add your menu links in the Menu settings. Make sure to use the “Categories” in the menu to add the ones you need.

As for the post you have created, it shows up under the proper category:

    https://marionedwardstherapies.co.uk/category/relaxation

You just need to update the menu Links, so that they use the actual category. You can find more details about adding categories to your menus in the following documentation:

Thanks for the prompt response. in the dashboard When I select settings then writing only writing settings opens. I can’t find a category setting. I’m sorry to be so slow, but I have completely confused myself

To fix the Menu categories you should go to:

Appearance -> Menus -> Select your primary menu -> Remove the currently added items there

Afterwards under the same Menu editing section under:

Add menu items -> Categories -> Select the categories which you wish to add to the menu and click on the button “Add to Menu”.

Once this is done, save the menu.

Got it fixed, thanks. I hadn’t thought remove didn’t mean delete. Have now deleted original categories and created new ones. i just don’t know how I changed them to the miscellaneous link in the first place. Anyway I now know how to fix it if I do it again. Really appreciate it.

I am glad I was able to help!
