• Is there anyway to set up a menu and then when you make a new post or page whatever the case may be it will automatically become a submenu of a certain parent. As in a dropdown will occur and the page/post will be below its parent.

Well that is what I think I want and for more clarity I’ll explain what I am doing now. I am not creating a blog so to speak just a website so there is no post page. As of now I am just putting categories in my menu and every time I post a new page I give it a category name as well. This allows me to go into menus and add that category and put it as a submenu of a different category.

For visual representation think of it this way.

I have this as a menu

    Home | nav 1 | nav 2 | nav 3 |

and when I make a post I want my menu to automatically become this (the second row in this menu is a dropdown when user hovers over the link in the main menu)

    Home | nav 1 | nav 2 | nav 3 |
    | sub 1 |

and if that is possible would it also be possible to add the same post to multiple main menu items as in the following.

    Home | nav 1 | nav 2 | nav 3 |
    | sub 1 | | sub 1 |

And is this all possible without having to go to the menu each time and adding the post/page to the parent categories

  • If you theme is configured to use dropdown menus, all you need to do is ensure that the new Page is a child of one of the top-level pages using the Page Parent dropdown in Add New/Edit Page.

hmmm okay. that doesn’t seem to work. I guess my theme isn’t set up that way.

I guess the way I am doing it now is the only option unless there is a plugin that has the option to automatically put post of a certain category into the menu if the menu has categories in it
