• Hi there,

Bento is a great theme, with a lot of hidden gems, but there are still missing bits which I need to make my blog posts better. Maybe they exist and I don’t know where, or maybe they still haven’t been rolled-out:

    1. I need to have the ability to add post date in the post page (beneath the title and above the text).
Also, the date is important on the post index and in the post loop widget.

    2. The same goes for the author credit: right now, the location of the credit box is not good enough (and why do I need a box?)

    3. Most important: There is no way to control the post’s layout without touching the CSS. if you look at the post I attached here as an example, you can see that the text is not stylized, other than in the same styles as regular body text of the whole site. Is there a way to create specific layouts, under the “standard” layout, which will allow authors to automatically set the desired set of margins and font sizes?

    4. Post header – I hid the featured image and used it as header image. There are several problems with this:

    * First, to allow title and menu text visibility, I need to set a header image overlay colour. Is there a way, instead of masking the whole header image, just to create solid colour label backgrounds to the text elements?

    * Also, placing the feature image as a header image, requires multiple actions (hiding the feature image, adding header image, changing the title colour etc.) and results with 2 uploads of the feature image, which adds more weight to the pages. Is there a way to simply point the feature image to the header with a checkbox?

    5. Last – How can I add post navigation at the bottom of my posts, to enable readers to go from post to post without going back to the blog page?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hey Samuel,

    thanks for choosing Bento!

I’ll go over the questions in the same order:

    1. At the moment dates are not envisaged on single post pages, but you can edit the content.php template file (namely, line 12) to add it – preferably via a child theme, otherwise the changes will get erased after the next theme update.

    2. You can remove the author info section by ticking the corresponding option in the “Site Elements” tab of the “Appearance – Customize” admin section.

    3. There are several ways to change the appearance of the post content: a) via the native WP editor or a plugin that extends it b) via the theme’s built-in Content Builder (see more info in this part of the manual) or c) by manually adding the necessary inline CSS right into the content area of the post.

4.1. At the moment there’s no such feature in Bento, but it is indeed possible to add it via a customized CSS code.

4.2. This is exactly how the header image works at the moment ?? first, I upload the featured image (www.remarpro.com doesn’t allow themes to use any other upload fields) and then check the “Activate extended header” checkbox in the page settings – this makes the page use the featured image as the header image.

    5. At the moment there’s not such feature in Bento; we’ll add it to the backlog for future version upgrades, thank you for pointing this out! The file to be edited if you’d like to try it manually is single.php (line 17).

    Sincerely,
    Andrii / Satori Studio
