• I’ve a problem with extracts when the Post Kinds Plug-in is active.

The extract picks up the HTML for an image caption at the top of the page and displays it. So, on the example search page (https://billbennett.co.nz/?s=lumia) to we get this under the third search item:

[caption id="attachment_2828" align="aligncenter" width="480"] Nokia Lumia 625[/caption] You get a lot of smartphone for $500 with the Lumia 625. It includes most of the features you’ll find in Androids and other smartphones costing twice as much. There’s a decent back camera for photos and one on the front for video chatting. There’s Bluetooth, GPS and…

It’s not fatal, but it’s never good security for a site to show code in this way. If I deactivate the plug-in, the code does not appear.

I looked at the source. The addition appears to be inside the entry-summary designation, which themes usually use to designate the excerpt.

I’m going to try to track where it is interfering, because the caption information isn’t coming from Post Kinds. My guess is it is filtering the content already there, as that looks like data from the image in the post.

You are correct, it isn’t good security, however, if you are concerned that isn’t code…that’s a shortcode, which is regular instructions in the post content that WordPress renders before displaying to actual code.

Yes, it’s definitely the image in the post. I found another earlier and moved the post lower in the page, which is an inelegant fix that would be tough going when there are 3000 pages to check. Also found it goes if I get rid of the caption – that is the other image information does not display.

I’ll leave that post as it is for now to make any troubleshooting easier, in the meantime I’ll see what happens if I handcraft an extract.

I’ll see what I can do about that. Are you willing to install manually to test a fix?

Yes. Happy to. I have VaultPress so the worst that can happen is 5 minutes downtime ??
