Post Images Not in Excerpt

For some reason my featured images aren’t showing up on my Blog Pages excerpts like I would want them to. They either don’t show up, or they will show up but only when the entire blog post is showing. Ideally I would like my Excerpt to have the featured image on the left with the post title and couple sentence excerpt just to the right of it so that it all is laid out in a horizontal row. Can someone help me with that?

I have tried it on other themes and the image shows up like how I want it, so it seems to be theme related.
