Does anyone know a way to grab an image thumb for a pic that hasn’t been actually “sent to the editor”? I normally use Kaf’s Post Image plugin for this and it works great but it requires one to actually have an image in the post (a reasonable request of course). I will not have an image in the post but would like to upload one to the inline uploader and have a plugin grab it’s thumb when using the_excerpt. Any ideas?

I’m replying here not just to keep the no_replies wolves at bay, but also note that I was in contact with Ryan through email and believe we cleared things up on how to use Post Image for this.

Unless Ryan wants to add something?

So how was this done? Sharing would be great.

It was done by using my plugin, the one mentioned by Ryan.

It was basically a misunderstanding on how Post Image works, in that there is no need to insert an image into the post to have Post Image use it. It only need be uploaded through the post editor’s upload facility while editing the post the image is ‘attached’ to.
