Post formatting is stripped out by widget

Hi, Really relieved to find this plugin so thank you. I am using it on a charitable website which is currently under development. I am also using the free version of the Elementor page editor. I want to show posts for Latest News on what is otherwise a static Home page. I have added the widget to an element in Elementor and set the excerpt length to 200 (as I ideally want to show the whole post). However I find that the formatting of the original post has been stripped out. i.e. no paragraphs and no external links. Is this normal behaviour or am I missing something in the settings?
I don’t really want website visitors to have to click on the post title to visit the full post, everything should be on the Home page. If this could be made to work, I would then like to remove the link in the title which takes you to the full post so that the title colour is consistent with the rest of the post and not showing the hyperlink colouring.
