    Hi there,

Post formats are pretty much done away with at this point except for the typical one which has the featured image. They were an idea that didn’t get much adoption and were pre-Gutenberg. I’m not aware of any modern theme that is using them. Now that you can build posts using blocks, they are not needed since you can add different blocks that can achieve those. The core themes 2022 and 2023 do not use post formats either, so does the Kadence theme.

Let us know how we can assist further.

Thank you very much indeed for your kind reply and thank you very much for this amazing theme!

Yes, I see the post formats fading away unfortunately… but they are so handy and add a unique touch to the sites’ archive pages without any effort from the bloggers’ perspective.

I love Kadence because it looks gorgeous out of the box. I just take it and use it. That simple. Incredibly amazing. Post formats could make the theme even more diverse and versatile.

Today, in the “all-editable age”, we may have forgotten the greatness of the post formats.

Doesn’t Kadence want to bring back the post formats and make it trendy again? :))))

Thanks, thanks for the great theme anyway!

Oh, thanks for the link, I will definitely visit the site and submit a feature request.

I mean typically the post formats that don’t necessarily have the featured image as their strength: link, quote, video, audio, status, aside… post formats.

I am currently very interested in link and status post formats.

Oh my dear, these post formats would be so powerful… to build websites again based on categories and tags and archive pages without having to edit so much… just write… I wish for that one day…

Thank you for your professional way of this conversation, I am amazed at how professional this team is!

    Hi there,

You can choose not to upload a featured image to a single post. In Kadence theme, featured images can also be disabled globally in Customizer > Posts/Pages Layout > Single Post Layout – see screenshot: https://share.zight.com/4guRNPgb

For individual posts, you can disable it in the Post Settings – see screenshot: https://share.zight.com/DOuPl6O2

You can use any blocks such as link, quote, video, audio, etc., that you’d like for single posts.

As for the archive pages, you can Replace Archive Loop Item Content via a Kadence Hooked Element (you can also use any blocks) – more info here: https://www.kadencewp.com/blog/introducing-kadence-elements-templates-design-your-site-your-way/

If these don’t work for you, I suggest using the link I gave you to submit a feature request.

Please let me know if there’s anything else I can help you with.

    Best,
    Chito
