Post File Sometimes Won’t Save After Custom Field Update

  • I am using custom fields on the post page and am frequently updating fields in each post as I’m testing. I’ve noticed that when I update a custom field and hit save, the file sometimes doesn’t save immediately. If I hit update once or twice on a few custom fields and rehit save, the file will then usually save. Not sure if this is a bug or if maybe a plugin is creating the problem. I eventually get the file to save after two or three tries but really have to watch what I’m doing to ensure the file save takes place. Has anyone else noticed this behavior? I’m using v2.61.

  • I’m trying to use the Branford magazine theme. I can’t get the photo feature to work on the homepage. I finally got the custom field to upload a URL for the featured story, but the UPDATE button won’t work. Just noticed that the DELETE button does work!

    btlewand, i have a theme with similar behavior. here is what i do and it works. but just in case, until you feel comfortable, save whatever you have in the content.

    1) update the custom info. hit save. usually, nothing happens.
    2) you are already in manage menu so hit POSTS and you should see the save bar go into action bottom right. ( but it is not published )
    3) go to DRAFT and you will see the post you are working on and reopen and hit PUBLISH. ( if it is already published don’t go to draft but go back to post and hit SAVE again.

    it is an extra step on my site but i have not lost anything. it is not broken enough for me to change at the moment. bigger issues brewing.

    I’m using 2.6.3 and am experiencing a similar bug (?).I work around this by clicking back into one of the custom field “value” fields then scrolling up and clicking “Save”.
