• I created a few post notification emails for a handful of subscribers and have them in separate groups using categories. I’ve checked everything multiple times over two days and I can’t figure out why sometimes when a new post is created, it sends e-mails out correctly, but other posts send out no emails. And even sending to the same category (exactly the same way to the same group) will sometimes work and sometimes not work. This makes no sense and I’m about to give up.

    Hello there @scott_mccoy ,

Thank you for contacting us regarding the issue with your post notification emails. I’m sorry to hear that you are experiencing inconsistencies with the email delivery, and I understand how frustrating this can be.

To help you better, I would like to ask a few questions:

    • How have you set up your post notification email? Have you set this up to send emails every weekday for example? How many emails have you included to be sent in your post notification email?
    • Did you create separate post notification emails for the different subscriber lists on your account?
    • Are the posts that failed to send emails published or scheduled?
    • For the posts that do not send, are there notifications created as normal posts or events for example?

Please provide us with as much information as possible so that we can investigate further and provide a solution to this issue.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

I have it set to send emails immediately. I started with the default WordPress cron, which worked sometimes and didn’t work sometimes.

In trying to fix the issue, I switched to a server cron every 2 minutes. Again, it sends sometimes and other times never does. There isn’t any logic to it that I can see. It’s not just one category or list, for example. It’s random.

    All posts are immediately published.

I don’t understand your question about ‘notifications as normal posts?’

I’m using my own email server. It’s setup correctly. I always use my own server and all other plugins I have that send e-mail notifications are working perfectly.

The emails are setup correctly in your plugin. I know this because they do send sometimes. But again, it’s a total guess if it will send or not.

I can create a new post and the e-mails never send. After 30 minutes, I can delete the post and create a new one (copy/paste the content and duplicate the original deleted post), then it will send. How is that possible? This proves everything is setup correctly because it does work sometimes.

    Here is more…

I posted a new news post this morning. It didn’t send immediately as it is setup. After about 30 minutes, I finally got the e-mail notification. However, it sent it using the wrong email!

I have a category, list, and e-mail notification setup for three different uses. My post was for my “INTERNAL: Partners” list/category. As you can see in the screenshots, everything is setup correctly. But, the last screenshot shows what I actually received — which it used the “Administration” email. I have no idea if the e-mails that sent went to the Admin list or to the Partners list. But I checked everything and it’s all setup correctly for each email notification.

You can also see it’s set to send “immediately” which worked a few times in testing last week because when it did send, I got it within a few minutes. This test took nearly 30 minutes. The server cron is set for 2 minutes.

There is definitely something wrong here.

I can’t tell if my screenshots worked here. So here is the URL:

On the last issue (wrong email), I redid everything and tested and that seems to be working now. So disregard that and I’ll bring it back up if it happens again.
