Post Editor problem – I want to stop second column floating

  • Hi. I’d like to stop floating the second column in Post Editor (the one with Tags, Categories, Publish button and other widgets). It started floating around the WordPress 4.0. It is freaking annoying when I want to add a tag and the column keeps hiding, and I have to scroll a bit more to get the tags widget.

    I’m not a native speaker so I can’t explain very good what I’m talking. Check out this screen and you will know what column I’m talking about: https://i.imgur.com/dfaCrGv.png

    I want it the way it was before WordPress 4.0. Is there any plugin or modification for that?

  • Are you sure you’re not referring to WP 4.1? It has a new feature called “distraction free writing” that, when enabled, takes everything else out of the way so you can focus on content editing…when you’re outside of the edit box (or scroll) your tools come back.

    Might that be what you’re experiencing? If so, just turn off Distraction Free Writing.

    TrishaM, I don’t understand your question. I have wordpress 4.1. I chose 4.1 tag when I was posting this thread, didn’t I? But this floating thing started around updating to wordpress 4.0, if I remember correctly. I’m not interested in “distraction free writing”. It’s off, because it annoys me as well. I want this right column in one place like it was before Wodpress 4.0.

    Now I scrolled a little bit up and the right column hides and I have to scroll more to see the content of that column: https://i.imgur.com/q8j1aOR.png

    Every freaking time i scroll a little bit up, this column hides and I have to scroll more to add tags or save draft. Before WordPress 4.0, the right column and post editor field had their own scrolling (if I recall) so it was not a problem.
