Post Editor Conform to Theme Template?

Greetings,

I notice that when I’m using the Twenty Twelve Theme that the editor for posts conforms to the CSS of the theme. The column width is the same, the font is the same, etc. When I build a custom theme the editor doesn’t do that. Is there any documentation on how I can get this to work? I searched but was unable to find anything.
