Post edit page shows old users and categories

    Since a few days the drop down field “Author” is not changing anymore. It does not show the new authors. I have deleted an admin user – the drop down still shows this deleted user! Some is true for categories. Old ones are visible, new ones not.

    The Quick Edit option does show the correct list of users and categories.

    I do not understand where the old list of users is stored.
    Anybody any ideas?

    Have you already tried clearing the cache?

    If you mean my browsers cache: yes.

    Do you use any caching plugins?
    They are usually described as “Optimization”.
    These can store saved versions of your page to decrease the number of queries to the database and thus speed up page loading times.

    Also, are you using any reverse proxy?
    They may also cache webpages.

    I deactivated caching (using WP Fastest Cache).
    I deactivated PWA.
    I do not use any reverse proxy I am aware of.
    I deactivated all caching options with my hosting provider.

    What puzzles me is that I get the old list (even with a already deleted user and without the two new ones) of authors when I use “Edit” of a post. Do I use “Quick Edit” it is the accurate list.
